Matthew Collopy is a Supervising Meteorologist at the Bureau of Meteorology in Adelaide. Before joining the Bureau in 1998, Matt developed a keen interest in meteorology and oceanography through a fusion of maths and physics studies and a desire to surf the best waves this planet has to offer. This led to a BSc in Meteorology and Oceanography from Flinders University. A 20-year career path developing skills in operational meteorology and management of frontline meteorological service teams has spanned the geographical and client footprint of the Bureau and has included a range of science and management studies. This has culminated in the opportunity to lead the South Australian Forecast Centre through extreme fire, flood and severe thunderstorm events – providing critical decision support to emergency managers as well as government and industry partners. Matthew will address Making better business decisions with seasonal forecasting in Session 4 on Monday.
