Prof. Anthony Finn is Research Professor of Autonomous Systems at the University of South Australia and Director of the Defence and Systems Institute. He has over 25 years of defence research experience, 20 of which were gained at the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO). Anthony held several senior positions at DSTO including those of Head, Automation of the Battlespace, Head, Strategic and Land Electronic Warfare, and Head, Navigation Systems. He has also led 15 collaborative international research programs with universities, government laboratories, and research institutes from Australia, the US, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Anthony graduated from Cambridge University with a PhD in 1988 and has published two books and a combination of around a 150 book chapters, journal articles, conference papers, and research reports. He is on the editorial board of three academic journals and has received several international awards for scientific achievement and innovation. Anthony’s research interests largely now focus on autonomous and unmanned vehicle systems and their applications. Anthony will be addressing 3D frost mapping across vineyards on Tuesday in Session 8.
