Prof. Markus Herderich is Group Manager – Research at the AWRI, where he leads a team of around 50 researchers. In addition to this role, Markus is Affiliate Professor at the University of Adelaide, Member of the Executive Management Group of Metabolomics Australia, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Director of the Australian Wine Industry Technical Conference Inc. and President of the OIV’s Sub-commission for Analytical Methods. Markus’ scientific roots are in food chemistry; his current research interests include aroma chemistry, biological chemistry, natural products chemistry, analytical chemistry and metabolomics. He is passionate about identifying compounds – old favourites and new structures – which provide unique sensory and/or functional attributes to wine and food. Markus is chairing Session 7.
